| | My name is Chief John Wilkinson Jr. I have been a member of the The Lake Dreamland Fire Department for 25 years. The fire service has been a tradition and passion in my family and I have chose to make the fire service my career. My Grandfather made the ultimate sacrifice in 1950 when he was killed in the line of duty as a Lake Dreamland Firefighter . My father continued the tradition by joining in 1963 untill his passing in 2010 as Chief.I joined the Department as a Firefighter and then advanced through the ranks to Captain as a volunteer. During this time I also continued to help the Department by being a member of the Board of Trustee's . My mother has also kept to the family tradition in her role as a member of the Auxiliary since 1967 till present along with my wife who joined the Auxiliary in 2011 .
In October 2010 I was appointed by the Board of Trustees as Chief of the Lake Dreamland Fire Department. I will do my best to move the Department forward in a positive direction and keep the Department prospering and developing for the future and the community. We currently have 4 Fulltime Career members, 1 Full-Time Secretary, 6 Part-Time members, 24 volunteers and 16 Volunteer Rapid Response members.
Update: July 1st, 2011 The Lake Dreamland Fire Protection District and The Dixie Suburban Fire Protection District have merger to combine manpower, equipment, and have elliminated any duplication of services to provide a more efficent and effective response to the community.
